Proper Usage of Our Asphalt Solutions Additive

Asphalt Solutions® Application Don't Mask... Suppress!

Asphalt Solutions Additive is a proven odor suppressant, not a masking agent for asphalts petroleum odor. The suppressant actually acts as an oxygen scavenger that significantly retards the release of compounds that are responsible for characteristic asphalt smell. The additive, which is introduced into the asphalt binder at a rate of 1 gallon (3.8 L) to 12,000 gallons (45,424 L) of liquid AC, offers HMA companies and their neighbors the prospect of an improved environment for industry operations.

how-it-works

The odor reducer can be added to a drum or batch plant. Since the additive is mixed right in with the liquid asphalt, you take care of the odors at the plant's exhaust stack and AC tanks, the silo's load-out, in the haul trucks, and at the back of the paver. For plant owners who run their own transport tankers, dumping the correct ratio of A.S. prior to loading, (when the tanker gets loaded) will enable the Asphalt Solutions Additive to be thoroughly mixed. It is also very important that every tanker load gets treated or you are defeating the purpose.

For terminals or refineries, A.S. can be easily blended / in-line injected with off the shelf parts and flowmeters. We also offer consulting services to assist with the design and installation of In-Line Injection systems for your facility.

It's a true end-to-end solution for asphalt odor. The odor suppressant not only works with hot-mix asphalt, but cold mix and medium cure asphalt as well. Additionally, as HMA operations mill-off existing asphalt during recycling, asphalt originally treated with Asphalt Solutions have no odor during repaving operations Asphalt Solutions will not freeze and has unlimited shelf life. The MSDS gives a flashpoint of 113 degrees F, but under testing we have added it to 380+ degrees F asphalt without a single incident. To date, millions of tons of HMA used in Federal and State projects have been produced using the odor-reducing additive without a single safety or specification incident.
